What better way to start this challenge than jumping into Lake Michigan on New Year's Day at Milwaukee's Bradford Beach. I officially became a member of The Polar Bear Club. Even minutes before the kickoff I was trying to find an excuse not to go in. But after driving 40 minutes to Milwaukee with my wife and kids, walking at least a mile to get there with the kids on our shoulders while wheeling a cooler behind us in the bitter cold, my wife informed me "We came all this way, You're here, You better get in that water!" I've rarely heard her say something with that degree of conviction, I had to go in.
The water was a reported 32 degrees. It was a mind-numbing blur. The worst part was getting out. My hair froze, the tips of my ears hurt and my skin had the strangest sensation of pins and needles, yet painless. Sort of like crinkling cellophane. All in all it was not half as bad I as thought it would be. I think I'll do it again next year to celebrate the close of this challenge.

I felt exactly the same weird way about the whole experience. Nice reading your blog...good luck. And don't worry your not a geek for starting a blog. They are the myspace/facebook for adults. I guess, thats what someone told me.
