#5 Citizen Kane

The American Film Institute lists Citizen Kane as the the number one American movie of all time and it consistently tops many other lists as well. I've been meaning to see it for years now so I watched Orson Welles 1941 classic film Citizen Kane. I can appreciate the validity at the time for its subject matter and it's innovative filmmaking, and yes, I get the symbolism of "Rosebud" but my wife and I had a tough time staying awake through this one. Definitely not at the top of my list but nevertheless I'm glad I rented it. Here's a link to AFI's interactive tour of the top 100 movies. Here's a great descriptive commentary from filsite.org on the film.
